Athletic Department Philosophy

Our desire is to provide an environment that will enable our student athletes to be especially successful on and off the playing field. It is imperative that we provide them with knowledgeable instructors that are well versed in the fundamentals of sports and that apply them consistently on a daily basis.  It is equally important that these leaders ultimately understand that academics are determinate of a student’s future and treated as so.  There are several characteristics that we use to formulate our practices.  They are dedication, fortitude, competition, mutual respect, diligence, tenacity and most importantly, camaraderie.  True participation of any sport can be channeled through these facets that will undoubtedly build sportsmanship and develop mental, physical growth. The process of a student’s athletic career will have an indefinite lasting impact on their lives.  What they learn in these short few years, will prepare them in invaluable ways that cannot be attained or taught anywhere else, but through athletics.

Our mission is to support students in achieving and maintaining their optimal fitness/health potential and diligently contribute to a safe and healthy school environment for all.

Accomplished through:

  • Fitness/Health Promotion and Education
    *Fitness Gram testing

It's that time again Aggie Fans!!!!

The Poteet Aggie XC team competed in Hondo last Saturday. The Varsity girls finished 4th out of 11 teams and were led by Alina Escamilla in 13th place and Lauren Davila in 16th place. There were 89 runners in this division and I am proud of nearly the entire team placing in the top half. We now know where we need to work thanks to the excellent competition.

The Varsity boys were led by Shane Garcia placing 12th out of 86 runners and the team as whole beat our district competitors who were present.

The JV girls ran as individuals and freshmen Jasmine Hill finished 13th out of 96 runners. Overall it was a tough meet and showed us where our strengths and weaknesses are. I feel confident in all these runners!

The JH Aggie XC team competed as individuals and finished impressively.
8th grader Natalie Muniz finished 8th out of 78 runners. 7th graders Angelie Ruiz and Gabby Velasquez finished 2nd and 4th respectively out of 82 runners!! Great job ladies.
Our 7th grade boys Eduardo Lopez and Eric Oliva finished 9th and 10th out 86 runners.
I could not be more proud of these amazingly talented junior high runners.

Good Monday Morning Aggie Nation!
A couple of quick notes on upcoming games this week:
JV will play at Karnes City beginning at 5:30. (Remember that we will play all home JV games at 6:00, but will have to be flexible when we travel and play when requested by the home team.)
Our Junior High teams play at home vs. Karnes City beginning at 5:00 with the 7th grade team and the 8th grade combined teams (Karnes City has 1 8th grade team) will begin at the completion of the 7th grade game.
The football teams are looking forward to a great Homecoming week and your support at the games.
Come early, be loud, wear maroon!
Go Aggies!
